The microwave oven, like many other electronics products, was the by-product of another technology. The microwave oven was discovered by accident when a tube being tested on a radar leaked microwaves. The engineer conducting the radar experiment, Percy L Spencer, noticed that a chocolate bar in his pocket melted and when he investigated it and found the cause he was facinated. Spencer investigated and in 1946 the "Radarange" was lauched in a Chicargo restaurant. |
